Super forces: How to save spit, snot and Co. every day

Body fluids are gross? In truth, they are superheroes! They do hard work every day and ensure our survival. These are the forces that are in them.

The body fluids are not exactly the most attractive accessories of the human body. The snotty nose mucus ends up in the handkerchief before he sees the daylight. The antiperspirant ensures that we sweat as little as possible. And with our gastric juice we don’t want to contact us at all – because it usually means that our food is on the way back. What is often displaced: are body fluids, one could say that people’s liquid superpowers.

No survival without body fluids

Every person consists of more than half of water. It is about 80 percent for newborns, and around 60 percent in adults. Strictly speaking, every person is “a huge sip of water that is held together by cell walls,” writes the doctor Johanna Klement in her children’s book “From snot to vomit”.

The body fluids are vital for survival, they transport nutrients through the body, help digest, defend intruders, support in wound healing and regulate body temperature.

“Nevertheless, our body juices are reduced to the disgusting factor far too often,” complains Klement. Each of the liquids have “at least an amazing superpower”. We present some of them in the photo gallery.
