After the meeting of the responsible commission, they were switched to “orange” at the Corona traffic light today. All other countries and the state are on “yellow”, i.e. at medium risk. The continuing decline in the number of infections is put into perspective by the few tests.
Hardly any more relevant test activity
There is only relevant testing activity in Vienna, where there were almost 42,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants. Lower Austria follows a long way behind with almost 17,000. Bottom is Tyrol with less than 3,500. Therefore, despite comparatively favorable infection numbers, one is stuck in the orange area. Because in terms of the pure number of cases, Tyrol is even better than the national average. However, only seven percent of the infections discovered there were asymptomatic at the time the test was taken, compared to 71 percent in Vienna, which suggests a certain number of unreported cases.
Continued downward trend
Overall, the downward trend in infections continued this week. The drop in the 14-day comparison was between eight percent in Tyrol and 24 percent in Vorarlberg, which also has the lowest risk number responsible for the color classification this week. Salzburg, Lower Austria and Vienna each fell back to the “Ländle”, Styria and Upper Austria, which were already “yellow” in the previous week.
Least danger in St. Johann
The Tulln district in front of Neusiedl/See had the worst case incidence last week. The risk of corona was comparatively lowest in St. Johann im Pongau. Overall, however, the downward trend is weakening. The risk figure still fell everywhere, but now mostly more subtly. There are also first districts where the numbers are stagnating or even going up again, as in Reutte.
