Mobility workshop runs until the end of May

The daily routes that the people of Feldkirch cover, and above all the question of how they do it – by car, bike, bus or even on foot – that is the focus of the “mobility workshop”. The community started this project (as reported) in cooperation with the Urfahr-West climate and energy model region with the intention of finding new traffic solutions.

The tool of choice is an app provided by the company “mobyome”, which is responsible for handling the mobility workshop. Since the survey started in March, 250 people have taken part in the free, anonymous survey. Interested community members still have the chance to do the same until the end of May (feldkirchen-mobil.at).

The principle behind it is that the participants enter their routes. On the one hand, the emissions and costs are calculated and displayed, on the other hand, alternative routes using other means of transport are suggested. Here the users are required to enter why they can imagine a change – or not. The first interim results are already available. “The willingness to walk or cycle shorter car journeys is surprisingly high,” says Tobias Haider from “mobyome”. However, the public connections to Linz are out of the question for a majority of the participants due to long travel times, inconsistent intervals and a lack of attractiveness. It is also exciting that many of those surveyed can imagine becoming part of a car pool in the future, says Haider. There was also great interest in the three-day “on-site mobility workshop” format at the beginning of May. In addition to a hands-on exhibition, there was the opportunity to try out an e-cargo bike.

After the survey has been completed, the results will be evaluated in detail and their presentation is planned for the beginning of September. Not only Nikola Wiesinger from the Urfahr-West climate and energy model region draws a satisfied interim balance, but also Mayor David Allerstorfer (SP): “I believe that we can use the information collected to advance objective and targeted projects in the future.”
