A native Bavarian who doesn’t have much to do with sport. A good two years ago, that was still the case for Stefanie Mühlbauer. Today things look very different. Nothing has changed about the origin of the 28-year-old, but her place of residence and her fitness have. During the corona pandemic, Mühlbauer was looking for a balance and tried running. At first with rather modest successes. “After half a kilometer I was already exhausted. I was really shocked by that and at the same time I got ambitious,” recalls the 28-year-old. From then on she got into her running shoes regularly and got better week by week. But after about a year, the shin began to pinch. “That’s why I looked on the internet to find out what could be the reason and happened to come across Jasmin. I read that she is a runner and a physiotherapist and just wrote to her. We arranged a meeting and from then on it went pretty quickly”, says Stefanie Mühlbauer.
Because the chemistry between the two was right straight away, 28-year-old Jasmin Zweimüller helped design a logo for her Luna fundraiser (which, by the way, is taking place from September 19th to 25th this year). Conversely, Jasmin took her new acquaintance to the weekly running meeting of the LAG Genböck Haus Ried. “I met a lot of other club members there and felt right at home. That’s why I was at the Christmas party a few weeks later,” says Stefanie Mühlbauer. There Andreas Steinbacher and Fabian Berneder announced that they would no longer organize the Rieder city run. “At that moment I patted Jasmine on the shoulder and said: ‘Wouldn’t that be something for us?’ She looked at me a little shocked at first, but she liked the idea. That’s how the two of us slipped in,” says the 28-year-old.
The clock is ticking
Since then, the two main organizers have had a lot on their plate, because the date for the Rieder city run (Saturday, August 27, from 3:30 p.m.) is getting closer and closer. While Stefanie Mühlbauer takes care of the marketing and the graphics, Jasmin Zweimüller takes care of the authorities and visits to sponsors. “It came naturally that way. The two of us complement each other perfectly, so there are hardly any points that we have to seriously discuss,” says Mühlbauer, who is now – mainly because of her love of coffee (she works at Eduscho) – moved to Ried.
Not only the organizers are new at the 38th edition of the Weberzeile Stadtlauf Ried, the route has also been changed. Instead of five or ten kilometers, this year 4.3 or 7.2 kilometers are on the program. A change that some people have to get used to. “The feedback is quite mixed, but we are convinced that it is the right decision. Above all, because we are primarily concerned with the many amateur runners. Seven kilometers are easier to manage than ten,” Steffi Mühlbauer is convinced.
Run with pleasure
It is also undisputed for the 28-year-old that it is a nice, fast and appealing lap. There is also another reason to run in Ried on August 27th this year. “On this day, the enjoyment festival takes place in the city center. We hope that many people will come and cheer on the runners. As a hobby runner, I know how nice it is. You soak up the atmosphere and are pushed,” says Mühlbauer. The 28-year-old has a tip for everyone who is still unsure whether starting at the Rieder Stadtlauf is the right thing to do: “Don’t think twice, just come and do it. You just have to dare and take the first step. In the it works in most cases.” She herself is the best example of this.
