As Austria’s leading producer of construction paints, construction chemical products and insulation systems, the Synthesa Group based in Perg also bears responsibility for a sustainable approach to the environment. The company has now fulfilled this order by commissioning a photovoltaic system on the roof of its Dalmatherm plant on the western outskirts of Perg.

444 photovoltaic panels were installed here, which have a module area of 930 m² and an output of 200 kW and generate 200 MWh of electricity annually. This electrical energy is primarily used to supply the insulation production at the site. This saves around 60 tons of CO2 emissions every year. A further expansion stage is planned. “If the deliveries arrive according to plan, we will be able to fully equip the Dalmatherm roof with solar panels in the autumn and put another 550 KW into operation,” says Paul Lassacher, Technical Managing Director of the Synthesa Group. The heart of the system is an inverter system made in Upper Austria.

With the commissioning of the new solar system for generating electricity, Synthesa is starting to use the renewable energy that currently has the greatest potential in Austria, emphasizes Synthesa CEO Georg Blümel: “For us, this is another milestone towards emission-free production at the site perg.”

Synthesa has been producing climate-neutrally at the Perg site for more than ten years. The supply of electricity from regional hydropower and heat from the Perger biomass heating plant also contributes to this. In addition, Synthesa procures raw materials that are available in Austria as regionally as possible. More than 80 percent of the materials used are from Austria – some from the immediate vicinity. This saves logistics and thus energy costs.
