Great idea for families: take the steam train to the fairytale world of Steyrtal

When you arrive in Grünburg at 2.30 p.m., many fairy tale characters are already waiting for young and old. Then the entourage hikes together to the Steyrtal fairytale world in the center of Grünburg. “The route is suitable for prams,” says Paul Brandl, who grew up not far from the local train station and is therefore closely associated with the museum railway. Now, together with Johannes Ebert, he accompanies the fairy tale project in the media: “And the train fare is incredibly cheap for families.”

repetition in spring

Harald Süss, manager at the Steyrtal-Museumsbahn, is pleased that a long-cherished wish of many parents has finally gained momentum. “We’ve only had the fairy tale train on track for a short time and already had an overwhelming number of registrations in the first few days,” says Suess. The premiere trip was fully booked within just two days. A possible repetition is already planned for next April.

Three organizations have come together to realize this children’s project under the motto “With the steam train into fairyland”. In addition to the museum railway, the Steyr-Kirchdorf children’s friends and the “Time Travel to the 20th Century” association are also on board.

After departure from Steyr’s local train station, fairy tale characters are already on the train telling short stories. In Grünburg, we hike together to the town center, where children’s fairy tales can be admired on display. The return trip to Steyr is at 4.30 p.m. A round-trip family ticket costs 20 euros for a maximum of two adults and up to four children. The ride is only possible with a valid reservation.

Christian Ludwig, chairman of the “Time Travel to the 20th Century” association, is also already looking forward to the many large and small visitors to the Steyr Valley fairytale world. “We have invested a lot of time to present the fairy tales and legends in our shop windows in the center of Grünburg in an interesting way,” says Ludwig about the project.

It will be the task of Edith Polleres-Rolinek from Kinderfreunde Steyr-Kirchdorf to turn the train with the children into a fairytale world. A photo shoot with Karin Slapak provided the photo material for the ticket at the usual high level.

By the way: The fairy tale world in Grünburg can of course also be visited independently of the fairy tale train.
