An open house, three new schools

An open house, three new schools

They have English names and are acronyms, the three new branches of school at the Ramsauergymnasium in Linz. Next Friday, the subjects ART, SMILE and MIND will be presented from 9 a.m. at the open day.
“It is important to us that the interests of the children are the focus. The starting point is general education, and depending on the branch, there are also artistic, scientific and computer science or linguistic and intercultural focuses,” says Director Thomas Riedl.

Art, culture, nature

The ART branch consists of the first letters for expression in space and sound and is completely dedicated to creativity and musical support. However, the spotlight isn’t just on what’s on the stage, but also on what’s happening behind it. Pupils are also taught lighting, sound and stage design and, in addition to the compulsory subject English, can choose between French and Spanish as a second foreign language.

SMILE means “language in the middle of intercultural life” and celebrates the diversity and similarities of cultures. In addition to English, students in this stream can also choose either French or Spanish as a foreign language. The specific subject of practical intercultural communication deepens the cultural exchange even further.

Finally, the MIND branch: “Looking through mathematics, computer science and natural sciences together”. The students work together on the opportunities and risks of technological progress and explore computer science and geometry in their own special subjects. Those interested can register for the new branches from February 27 to March 10.
