Year after year, around 30,000 Christmas trees are collected in the state capital and then chopped up and processed into compost. This allows around 65,000 kilograms of compost humus to be obtained. What is used in agriculture to improve the soil could also serve as fertile soil for new Christmas trees.
Traditionally, the free collection campaign starts after the holidays. It’s the same this year. The trees, freed from their ornaments, will be picked up on January 9th, 16th and 23rd by seven Linz AG vehicles. The trees only have to be parked on the street side on the evening before the collection day. Linz AG points out that the trees intended for collection should not be deposited in the garbage room or at the place where the waste containers are set up, because then they will not be taken away.
