In the long-term average, those affected only feel the allergic symptoms caused by the hazel pollen from the last week of January. At the beginning of the pollen season, the immune system of allergy sufferers generally reacts particularly strongly, says Uwe Berger, head of the Austrian Pollen Warning Service.
