There is 50 centimeters of snow in the Frauenkar (1,750 meters above sea level) on the Wurzeralm, and 35 centimeters on the Hösskogel (1,850 meters above sea level) in Hinterstoder. There will also be a significant increase in the coming days, with precipitation often falling in the form of rain.
Not a good starting point for preparing the valley runs in Upper Austria’s ski areas. Since yesterday, skiers on the Höss in Hinterstoder can no longer swing down into the valley. The lack of snow no longer allows a safe descent. A descent down to the valley is still possible on the Wurzeralm, but the slope is already damaged. Slope goers are asked to only ascend at the outermost edge. As reported, ski operations on the Hochficht and Sternstein have already been temporarily suspended.
In the coming days, the snow line will fluctuate between 600 and 1500 meters above sea level. Maximum temperatures of between seven and ten degrees are expected by Friday. In the mountains, at 1500 meters above sea level, it will be much too warm again on Wednesday with up to three degrees plus. A real onset of winter is not in sight until at least Sunday.
