On Tuesday, the search for the “Gösser tap master” began at the tourism vocational school in Altmünster. The aim of this Austria-wide competition is to find the best tap masters. Not only the perfect tapping is required, but also the care and serving of the beer as well as general beer knowledge.
A jury consisting of Brau-Union regional sales director Markus Birnleitner, Altmünster’s deputy mayor Bernhard Moser and innkeeper Sigi John chose Isabella Haider (Oberndorfer innkeeper in Schmiding) as the winner. She can therefore go to the state final in Linz and draw for the Upper Austrian state title. Second place went to Jakob Wakolbinger (Gasthaus Wundsam, Neustift im Mühlkreis), third was Jonas Eder (Gasthof Gruber, Schwanenstadt). In the nine state finals, the three best young beer tappers in each state qualify for the grand national final, which will take place in Styria on April 19th and 20th.
