The ship left the port of the Italian island of Ponza on Friday in heavy seas. Because of the extreme conditions, the ferry took five hours to reach the mainland – instead of the usual 60 minutes.
The waves hit the ship properly, according to observers, they reached a height of up to eight meters. According to the Ansa news agency, some of the 120 passengers were afraid for their lives. The ferry finally reached the port of Formia unscathed. Nobody got hurt.
