The Naturium am Inn environmental station is looking for interested and nature-loving people who would like to volunteer as “Naturium Guides” for 2023. “The guides who were already trained in 2021 support us very well, but the demand for guided tours and environmental education events is high. That’s why we want to offer nature lovers the opportunity to be trained as Naturium guides again this year,” says Claudia Schmidt, head of the state-approved environmental station .
The training is free of charge and is organized by the cross-border facility “Naturium am Inn” with the sponsors of the district of Rottal-Inn and the municipality of Mining. The guide work is done on a voluntary basis, an expense allowance is reimbursed for the guided tours provided. In order to be able to hold technically well-founded guided tours, appropriate preparation for the activity is required.
The training of further volunteers is to take place from the end of March to the beginning of October 2023. This consists of excursions and workshops on various topics and is spread over a total of around 14 training days on different weekends. The focus is on the Lower Inn: from the history of the landscape and the world of birds to current renaturation measures, a wide variety of experts present their specialist area on excursions directly on site. And it’s about how the content can be conveyed. For this purpose, the basics of environmental education and leadership didactics are dealt with and also tried out. Legal issues and a first-aid course are also part of the training.
The training is primarily aimed at people from the region who also enjoy passing on their own enthusiasm for nature to others, according to the organizers. Applications will be accepted until February 26th. The application form is available for download on the website at www.naturium-am-inn.eu.
