Bank transactions with instead of branch closure “Frida”

Most customers now do their banking online, with fewer and fewer going to the branches. “We want to respond to this development in a different way than by closing bank branches”, says Günter Stadlberger, CEO of Raiffeisenbank Wels. Yesterday he presented a new advice box with employees in the bank office in Schleissheim “Frida”that for “Questions and individual answers” stands.

Customers enter the box with a large screen, which was specially developed for around 50,000 euros. At the push of a button, they are connected via video telephony to an employee at the headquarters on Kaiser-Josef-Platz in Wels. These provide support with various banking transactions, for example when it comes to making a standing order for the granddaughter, opening a digital savings book, or there are questions about the ELBA bank app.

For legitimation you have to have an ID with you, which is scanned, you can of course also sign electronically.

“A student won’t need ‘Frida’, but we have to take demographic developments into account, we’re all getting older”says Stadlberger, who emphasizes that there will continue to be personal consultations on site. “Often, however, one wishes to clarify spontaneous concerns immediately, and that is exactly what we want to offer with our digital consulting solution.”

A counter service is only available on Fridays in the 1400-inhabitant community. “Frida” is now open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

gain experience

In the coming weeks and months, Raiffeisenbank wants to gain experience with the pilot project. If “Frida” well received by customers in Schleißheim, the digital advisory tool will be rolled out to other bank branches.
