Climate crisis, sustainability, digitization and transparency as well as support for innovative start-ups: Linz and Izmir want to share their know-how in the future. The declaration of intent is a first concrete step towards closer cooperation after a delegation from Linz visited the 4.4 million metropolis at the end of last year.

“Enrichment and Opportunity”

“It is a great enrichment and opportunity for the city of Linz and local companies if we engage in an active exchange with Izmir. We are happy to share our city’s know-how in the areas of digitization and innovation in order to create new opportunities together,” says Luger. Izmir is Turkey’s third largest city and has the country’s second largest port on the Aegean Sea. At the beginning of 2022, the Council of Europe awarded the metropolis the Europe Prize for its great efforts in promoting European integration.
