Union Haidlmair Nußbach is the clear favorite going into the semi-finals of the women’s fistball Bundesliga against FBC Linz-Urfahr today from 7 p.m. Both seasonal duels with the women from Linz were won by the defending champions this season – 3-0 in the first half of the season and 3-1 in the return match. Nevertheless, the Kremstal women are warned against Urfahr, as the final round will take place in the Linz Gymnasium Auhof, where Urfahr enjoys a clear home advantage.

“It was an exciting season in which we only found our usual form towards the end,” says Nußbach’s defender Katharina Lackinger, alluding to having had unusual difficulties in many matches. The Kremstal team, who are accustomed to success and who have become national champions four times in the past six years, not only suffered three defeats this indoor season, but also struggled to achieve narrow 3-2 wins three times. With the last five 3-0 wins in a row, the Salzberger squad regained enough self-confidence in time to tackle the title defense.

In the possible endgame, however, the right tactics will be required in addition to self-confidence. Opponent there is Union Arnreit, the reinvigorated series champion of years gone by. However, Nußbach suffered defeats in both duels this season, with only one set win overall. The final is on Saturday at 7 p.m. after the men’s final.
