Women defend themselves against A8 parking lot

With a citizens’ petition, the people of Weibern are defending themselves against Asfinag’s plans to build a truck parking lot on the A8 near Weibern. Yesterday, representatives of the “We protect women” initiative handed over the petition with 600 signatures to the second President of the National Council, Doris Bures (SP).

Now the information is checked, after which the request goes to the Petitions Committee in the National Council. There it is decided whether the matter will be dealt with or passed on to the Ombudsman Board. “We hope that Minister Gewessler will give in and realize that the location near the town center is inappropriate,” says initiator Gottfried Zauner. Mayor Manfred Roitinger (VP) also supports the issue. Yesterday, when asked by OÖN, Asfinag said that the contract would soon be awarded and construction should begin in June.
