The duo was only beaten in the grand final by Charlotte Bankes/Huw Nightingale from Great Britain. Bronze went to Chloe Trespeuch/Merlin Surget from France. For Austria it was the eleventh medal at this joint world championships for snowboarding and ski freestyle in Georgia.

“It lifts my heart, I can’t believe it. I was disappointed after yesterday’s race, that cost me my confidence. But today I thought it was a new day. I gave everything, it ended well “, said the 24-year-old Lower Austrian. Before the finale, Zerkhold thought she didn’t want to go home with fourth place. “It was really cool with Jakob, driving with the world champion. There’s nothing better than that.”

Her closer compatriot Dusek had already won the gold medal in the individual competition on Wednesday. “I was extremely nervous at the finish. I’d rather drive than watch. It’s pure thrill,” said the 26-year-old. “Pia rode incredibly well, I have to take my hat off. She really showed everything in every run, really accelerated, I’m really proud of her.” He is overjoyed. “To go home with two medals is unbelievable.”
