Dog rescued three weeks after earthquake in Turkey
The dog survived under the rubble for 22 days

The white dog was rescued from the rubble in the city of Antakya, state news agency Anadolu Ajansi reported on Thursday evening. A video showed an employee of the state disaster service Afad holding the animal in his arms.

While clearing rubble, workers heard noises under the rubble and then spotted the terrier. The dog was able to find food under the rubble and therefore survived, it was said. As a result of the rescue of the four-legged friend, a dead person was found who was believed to be the dog’s owner. The dog was taken to a clinic to be checked. Also on Thursday, five sheep and goats were freed from the rubble of a house in Gaziantep, according to Anadolu Ajansi.

Several centers have been set up in the earthquake region to take care of pets and street animals. The Turkish animal protection organization Haytap, for example, is on the spot with teams specializing in the rescue and care of animals.
