The architect Rafael Viñoly died at the age of 78

Viñoly, an architect with an international reputation, is responsible for several iconic works in Uruguay such as the Carrasco International Airport and the Garzón Lagoon Bridge.

His last job in Uruguay was directing the renovation of the San Rafael hotel in Punta del Esteundertaken by the hotelier Giuseppe Cipriani.

Internationally, his works stand out in tokyo, London and NY.

Rafael Viñoly trained as an architect in Buenos Aires. From the capital of Argentina, he emigrated to the United States after opening his first studio.

Among his first works are his participation in the headquarters of Banco Ciudad, the ATC building and the towers of the Argentine Industrial Union.
