The last operation of the day in the Electronic Stock Exchange of Uruguay (Bevsa), was agreed in 39.39 pesos, while the average price of operations was 39,428 pesos. On this Friday, the number of transactions was a total of 63with an amount of operations that added $31.8 million.
The dollar registers a fall of -1.6% so far in 2023
As the dollar remained stable on the first day of March, yesterday’s increase was the first variation of the month which, together with today’s, consolidates an upward start for March, that in his first three exchange days accumulates a rise of 1.38% in the exchange rate.
The currency comes from a high in the first half of February that generated the expectation of an eventual neutralization of the decrease of -3.29% in January, but the abrupt drop in recent weeks left it in the 38-peso range and with a positive close of just 0.55% last month.
In the fourth week of last month, in just two exchange days the dollar sank -1.9%, a setback that squandered all the accumulated increase that February had been showing.
Now, with the rise registered in the first days of February, the North American currency returned to the 39-peso range.
With these numbers, so far in 2023 the foreign currency accumulates a negative balance of -1.6% Meanwhile, with respect to March 3, it showed a monthly variation positive of 0.79%.
Compared to the same day but last year –March 2, 2022–, when the exchange rate was 42,715 pesos, the interanual variation was from -7.39%.
This last variable fell sharply in recent weeks, mainly because, by then, the dollar had already begun to fall after reaching the historical peaks it had recorded in the early days of last year.
