SV Guntamatic Ried wanted to reverse the trend after the dismissal of Christian Heinle with neo-coach Maximilian Senft against Wiener Austria in the Bundesliga – after the 1:3 home defeat, the Innviertel team were left empty-handed.
The efforts of the Rieder Kickers in the first game under the new coach could not be denied. “We quickly took the lead through Stefan Nutz with a set piece. Unfortunately, we made a mistake when pushing through before Haris Tabakovic equalized. We’re going into half-time, the game was open,” Senft sums up his first half, in which several Positive things about the new game idea were: “Clarity in the pressing triggers, high ball acquisitions, powerful counterattacks and dangerous set pieces.”
Shortly after the restart, the match plan was completely thrown overboard with one stupid thing: David Ungar saw the red card for his hard challenge against Austria kicker Marvin Martins (47th). It was the 22-year-old’s second exclusion – and Rieder’s sixth overall this season. The guests from Vienna took advantage of the majority and took command. Ried was no longer able to counter the goals conceded by Julian Turi (56th / own goal) and Andreas Gruber (82nd). What Senft had no understanding for: “We are angry because we want to score even after a red card.”
Video: Interview with Ried’s neo-trainer Maximilian Senft:
The personnel situation ahead of the all-important away game on Sunday at direct competitor Altach is not rosy: in addition to Ungar, Michael Martin, another central midfielder, is missing because of his fifth yellow card. The long-term injured Marcel Ziegl, Nikola Stosic and Denizcan Cosgun are not ready for action.
Nevertheless, Senft is optimistic: “Frustration is the dominant factor at the moment, but I am sure that we will take the next step in training and use the right levers.”
Fans demand realignment
It remains to be seen how long the neo-trainer can prove himself in the tough relegation battle. “I hope that we are successful and that we can then talk about a longer commitment from Maximilian Senft in Ried. I’ve experienced so much in this business, nothing is fixed,” says Ried President Roland Daxl, giving no job guarantee . The fans have long since identified the culprits for the sporting misery at SV Ried: “Acted without a plan for years, thereby ruining our SV Ried. Reorientation now” was communicated to the Ried management by means of a banner.
Also characteristic after the final whistle: When Ried’s team wanted to say goodbye to the atmospheric standing room, the hard-core fans had long since left the stadium. The resentment in the Innviertel is increasing…
