The Gallneukirchner municipal council has decided to join a local heating provider as soon as possible. According to Mayor Sepp Wall-Strasser (SP), this should only be the beginning. The goal is a share of 100 percent renewable energy by 2030. The members of the municipal and city council discussed how this should be achieved at a closed meeting. Gallneukirchen relies on photovoltaics (PV) on all available community areas, parking spaces are to be covered with PV and solar thermal, environmental heat and hydropower are to be used.
Bus routes suitable for commuters
The fleet is to be converted to e-mobility, and the efficiency of the lighting is to be checked. In addition, Gallneukirchen wants to campaign for commuter-friendly bus routes and for the construction of the Stadtbahn to start soon. “In connection with the entire region, we can do it,” says Wall-Strasser.
