The presidents spoke of the role they have in the confrontation unleashed after the Russian invasion. The Ukrainian leader called for “remembering, thinking and thanking all the women who sacrificed their lives.”
The presidents of Ukraine and Russia, Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putinthanked the women for their role in the war between the two countries, within the framework of the International Women’s Day.
Zelenski made statements through an official video: “I think it is important to say today. Thank all the women who work, teach, study, save, care and fight for Ukraine“. In the recording, the Ukrainian leader asked to “remember, think and thank all the women who sacrificed their lives” for the country.
As reported by the AFP news agency, Zelensky again mentioned the possibility of winning the war: “Together we are stronger, together we are invincible, and together we can win.”
Putin greeted the women
Putin took advantage of International Women’s Day to salute women who “do their duty” at the service of Russia, in an allusion to the military offensive in Ukraine.
The first Russian president participated in a delivery of awards to outstanding women at the national level and he spoke directly to the war with Ukraine: “Today, as Russia once again faces direct threats to its security and sovereignty, we see numerous examples of courage and determination.”
In 2022, Putin established the award “Mother-heroine” for those women who have ten children or more.
