The brass band association of the Freistadt district invited to the big awards festival in the Salzhof on Sunday. The focus of this youth gala was the ceremonial awarding of performance badges from the Upper Austrian Brass Band Association (OÖBV. Young musicians successfully passed 166 of these performance badges last year at the state music schools in the district: 51 junior performance badges, 78 bronze performance badges, 29 silver performance badges and eight gold achievement badges.

True to the motto “BE PROUD”, the district management of the OÖBV Freistadt presented the badges and certificates to all hard-working musicians. 132 successful music students from 29 music clubs were brought onto the stage at the “Youth Attack” and cheered on by their music club officials, parents and friends. District youth officer Ulrike Maurer-Pühringer, district music director Marlies Barth-Miesenberger and district chairman Franz Jungwirth handed over the badges.

The Neumarkt Music Association and the Lasberg Traditional Music Band were able to celebrate the largest number of examinations: twelve musical talents each achieved a performance badge in the previous year. Just behind them, with no less than eleven exams passed, came the young musicians of the Freistadt town band.

A bassoon trio from the Pregarten State Music School and a brass quintet from students from the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz provided the festive setting for the award ceremony. Youth officer Anja Reithmayr from Unterweißenbach put this formation together especially for this occasion. District chairman Franz Jungwirth wished the excellent music students continued enjoyment of music and appealed to use the skills they had acquired in the music clubs in the district. Jungwirth also gave special thanks to all the parents for their support and motivation when learning to play musical instruments.
