The legislator had been on leave since March 2022, being replaced by his immediate substitute, Micaela Melgar. The general secretary of the PCU, Juan Castillowill be in charge of communicating the resolution of the Central Committee to the president of the FA, Fernando Pereira.

Nunez is located absent from public activity and has not used his Twitter account since March 7, 2022, when he used it to refer to another public denunciation that they did to him through social networks, prior to the one his ex-partner made. At that time, the former deputy received precautionary measures not to approach and had to attend the workshop “Men who decide to stop exercising violence” dictated by the Municipality of Montevideoafter order of the judge Karen Square.

Núñez will continue to belong to the Communist Party

Currently, the Court of Political Conduct of the FA continues without issuing an opinion after several months, accusing difficulties in addressing the case. Núñez continues his political activity within the PCU outside the media, and for the moment, the agreement to resign from his bench does not imply an expulsion from the party, nor from the list 1001.

The distancing measures that Núñez received, and which expired on November 26, 2022, after 180 days, implied not approaching the complainant within a radius of no less than 500 meters. In addition, the Justice ordered psychological and psychiatric expertise for the complainant and the defendant, at the request of the latter.

After there was no altercation while the precautionary measures were in force, the ex-partner’s lawyer requested the suspension of the previously established expertise, and the filing of the case, once all the measures that the Justice had ordered were fulfilled. Finally, the case was filed on January 26 by the fair judge Maria Fatima Bone.
