The parade of 4,000 horsemen marks the end of the folkloric celebration, but the activities will continue this Sunday.
The 36th edition of the party of the Gaucho Homeland in tacuarembó received thousands of people who this Saturday came to enjoy the parade of 4,000 horsemen In the city center. Among them, the president Luis Lacalle Pouwho was accompanied by part of his national cabinet and other authorities.
The festivities of the traditional event that has been held annually since 1986 began on March 6 and will continue until this sunday 12where will there be Creole Mass in the Lagoon of the washerwomen.
The President arrived in the morning and, before reaching the podium, he took photos with followers and participants in the Patria Gaucha contests. In the parade there were about 50 apparerías on more than 4,000 horses, which after touring the city, ended their journey in the 19 de Abril square. There, Lacalle Pou made a wreath at the foot of the statue of Jose Gervasio Artigas.
In addition to the president, the Secretary of the Presidency, Alvaro Delgado; defense ministers, javier garcia; of Education and Culture, Pablo da Silveira; inland, Luis Alberto Heber; Labor and Social Security, Paul Mieres; the local mayor, Wilson Ezquerra; the person in charge of the Sembrando program and ex-wife of the President, Lorraine Ponce de Leon and, also, the senator and leader of Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Rios.
The Fiesta de la Patria Gaucha is one of the most important folkloric celebrations in the region and in it there are musical performances and competitions by nativist and Creole societies that recreate rural environments from colonial times to 1920. Thus, since 1986 it has become in a true milestone in the Tacuaremboense calendar.
With the slogan “Sembrando tradiciones”, this edition included payadores, musical and dance shows, exhibitions, fair circuits, contests, bonfires and equestrian activities in the arena.
How much are the tickets for Sunday and how to get them?
Tickets for this Saturday were 600 pesos. And although the parade marks the end of the celebration, the activities will continue this sunday. Besides the Creole massthere will be a dressage contesta international feral dog show and various other activities.
On the last day of the Festival, meanwhile, general tickets will cost 250 pesos. The price for the stands of the arena will be of 400 pesos in the case of the numbered ones and 350 pesos unnumbered. Children up to and including 12 years of age enter for free.
