Black, white and a bit of drama

The Oscars have always been a catwalk for breathtaking dresses: this year there were robes that deserved their own Academy Award – even though the red carpet was champagne-colored. Not ideal for Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis and her beige Dolce & Gabbana gown that blended into the carpet. Otherwise, black and white dresses dominated in terms of color.

Hollywood Brides: Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh was one of many all-white stars in her feathery Dior gown. The wedding look came in many different variations: Zoe Saldana walked in a vintage dress by Fendi Couture and Sofia Carson in a princess dress by Giambattista Valli on the “Red Carpet”. Emily Blunt’s Valentino and Michelle Williams’ Chanel gowns, on the other hand, were understatedly elegant.

Completely in black: The singers preferred black. Rihanna perfectly staged her baby bump with her evening dress by Alaia. The black Versace robe from Lady Gaga. At Nicole Kidmans armani dress with roses, the leg cut was the eye-catcher.

drama baby There were a number of other robes in the Eye-Catcher category. Spectacular, for example, is the purple draped Moschino dress by Angela Bassetts. Pure opulence also with the Chinese actress Fan Bingbing. Florence Pugh, on the other hand, looked like she had stepped out of the Middle Ages in her Valentino robe.

And the Oscar goes to… The Oscar for the most beautiful gown of the evening goes to the deep red Elie Saab dress with a hip slit, a puffed bow and a voluminous skirt, worn by the supermodel Cara Delevingne.

Sexiest look: Singer Lenny Kravitz impressed with an emotional performance on stage and his Yves Saint Laurent ensemble of flared trousers and a blouse-like top. His trained upper body covered however Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with a silk blazer in powder pink, deviating from the boring suit look of his colleagues.
