The people of Wels have submitted around 3,000 applications for support to the Wels magistrate. The city’s support package, worth around 2.3 million euros, is intended to cushion the high inflation somewhat. “With this support package, we were able to help many people during this very difficult time,” emphasize Mayor Andreas Rabl and social officer Christa Raggl-Mühlberger (both FP). 2735 applications have already been processed.
Eligible persons receive a one-off payment as support: 100 euros for the applicant and 50 euros for each additional person living in the household.
Payment is made in the form of “Wels Cards” that can be redeemed in 240 partner businesses, including grocery stores, the eww, the Soma market or the OÖ-Tafel. The first edition of the “Wels Cards” took place in February, the second tranche will be issued this week.
The residents of the municipal and private old people’s homes should also receive the support, employees from the care of the elderly will visit the homes in the next few days. For older people, the costs for mobile services were also covered for one month.
