In the summer of 2020, the Ministry of Education presented its eight-point plan for digitization reform in local schools. The Linz University of Education of the Diocese of Linz (PHDL) was already a step ahead and had launched the “iPad Innovation Series” training project. There were 200 registrations at the beginning of September 2020, but the demand has now “increased exorbitantly”, according to the PHDL.

In 2021 there were 2,500 new registrations, plus 3,000 in the previous year, which means that the number of graduates has grown to more than 7,500. Interested parties do not only come from Upper Austria, but from all German-speaking countries.

“Within a very short time, the participants can use easy-to-use apps to illustrate complex processes such as photosynthesis, algebra methods, pulmonary circulation or climate change in such a way that their lessons for children and young people become more personalized, understandable and lively,” says Thomas Wimmer. Together with Anna Weghuber from the Media Institute at the University of Education, he designed the project for all school levels.

Interested educators at all school levels can find further information and registration options at www.phdl.at
