The eagerly awaited return game between the Mühlviertel Volleys and UVC Holding Graz/2 took place on Saturday evening in the 2nd women’s Bundesliga. Unlike the narrow 2:3 defeat a week ago, Perg’s coach Lydia Trauner was able to fall back on the entire team squad in the Donauwell Arena in Perg. In particular, with 16-year-old Lara Spiegl and the two 14-year-olds Lisa Aichinger and Helene Brunner, our own up-and-coming talents were also ready to put their stamp on the game.

Almost congruent as in the game in Graz, the Perger women set the tone from the first rally and took a 2-0 lead in the set. But just like last Sunday in Graz, the number of mistakes increased, while the women from Graz were able to take the reins with more risk. The visiting team pulled away point by point. Towards the end of the set, a service series by Paulina Surowka was able to improve the set result a little, but this round went quite clearly to the guests with 25:16.

In the fourth set, a jolt went through the team of the Mühlviertlerinnen. With strong service series and powerful attacks, they found their way back into the game and, cheered on by the spectators in the stands, managed a clear 25:18 set win and thus a 3:1 home win.

“Especially in the fourth set, the team acted very strongly as a team and took point for point in a focused manner. That was not an easy task when you still have the result of last week in mind. Congratulations to our coach, who always changed players at the right time and gave our young players the chance to get a taste of the Bundesliga,” said Perg’s sports director Josef Trauner after the success. Above all, the performance of the young players was outstanding: “They are now getting a taste of the Bundesliga more often and are also very present in training. A result of our successful youth work.”
