The SPÖ women from the district of Perg together with the SPÖ of the city of Perg invited to the Marie reception last week in the Mitterlehner inn. The focal point of the reception was the presentation of the eponymous women’s guide “Marie”, which is recognized as a reference book for women throughout Upper Austria. “The Marie is a clear reference work for women, arranged according to keywords. In addition to valuable information on various life situations, the brochure facilitates insight into complex official channels. In addition, there are contact points and counseling facilities from all over Upper Austria,” said the district chair of the SPÖ women, NR-Abg Sabine Schatz about the guide. “We want to help women not only to have rights, but also to get rights!”

Another highlight of the reception was the presentation of the Marie Recognition Award. This honors those organisations, projects and people who stand up for women in different situations in the district of Perg in a special way. This year the prize goes to the project “StoP Perg – districts without partner violence”. The initiative, which started in the district in June 2022, relies on education and prevention to get the topic of violence out of the taboo zone. Information events or doorstep talks draw attention to domestic violence and provide information on how to act and intervene. Sabine Schatz: “Any approach that prevents violence and offers protection against violence is an important contribution.” The recognition award was accepted by Heidi Wabro and Elisabeth Glawitsch.
