For the third time this season, SKU Amstetten and title favorite Blau-Weiss Linz faced each other. After a 3-0 cup win for Linz and a 1-0 win for Mostviertel in the championship home game, there was a return match in Linz on Sunday.
And there it smelled like a sensation for a long time. After Amstetten had had good chances in the early minutes, Dominik Starkl put his team 1-0 ahead in the 16th minute after a cross from Dominik Weixelbraun.

Linzer coached by Gerald Scheiblehner then shifted up a gear, but were initially denied equalization after a goal by Fabio Strauss was disallowed for offside. But the Mostviertler also played happily and repeatedly posed problems for the hot candidate for a place in the Bundesliga. Sebastian Leimhofer had the best chance of making it 2-0, but was denied by Linz goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid. The equalizer came in the 36th minute: The Brazilian Ronivaldo, who had previously missed two top chances, scored from close range to make it 1-1, which was already deserved at the time.
After a change of sides, Amstetten tried to get more air. The Mostviertler promptly had a double chance through Leimhofer and Starkl after a mistake by the Linz goalkeeper. But Blau-Weiss Linz also remained a fire hazard. Finally, Ronivaldo put together a brace and in the 71st minute hit a half-volley under the bar to make it 2-1.
After this defeat, Amstetten remains in sixth place with 29 points in the top middle of the table. On Friday, March 31st, the Mostviertler welcome the second set of SK Rapid Vienna at home.
