Invoicing for exports of eucalyptus roundwood increased by 88.6% year-on-year

During the first two months of the year, a 88.6% year-on-year the export earnings of eucalyptus roundwood (or eucalyptus) for a figure higher than the 150 million dollars. This product was consolidated as the main one among loggers after the incorporation of the Peach free zone as the destination of shipments.

In recent months, the roundwood from these trees has gained new prominence in the face of the foreign market and its influence on the trade balance. Since shipments to the Durazno free zone began, more than 2.35 million cubic metersa 75% more of what had been exported in the same period last year.

This increase in exports also responds to an increase in sales in the other main destinations, such as the Fray Bentos free zoneand the free zone Punta Pereira. The opposite case is experienced with sawn timber, where a strong commercial slowdown is registered.

Exports of eucalyptus sawn timber do not stop falling

Exports of eucalyptus sawn wood continue with the trend of 2022 and seem to find no floor. New losses were recorded in February, the same as last year due to the decrease in construction activity in the main destinationswhich has caused a decrease in the commercial flow.

In the second month of the year, they exported 37,000 cubic meters of sawn wood, between eucalyptus and pine, for a figure that is in the order of 13 million dollars. Sawn eucalyptus receded into a 27% the volume exportedand in a 18% billing.

On the other hand, sawn pine lumber, which also registered a sharp drop in the average price per cubic meter, lost 9% in exported volume, and 27% in billing.
