“First of all, the music!” – that is the name and motto of the youth music competition “Prima la Musica”. Last week the Upper Austrian state competition took place in Ried im Innkreis – the highlight of the year in the calendar of the state music schools. 533 young musicians from all over the state demonstrated their virtuosity there.

The students of the music schools in Wels and Wels-Land achieved excellent results. Many of them have qualified for the national competition, which will take place in Graz in May, thanks to their outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the OÖN!

LMS Thalheim: Helin Tarakci not only achieved a great performance as a solo flutist at the competition in Thalheim with a first place: together with Niklas Keinberger as the ensemble “Plik Plok” she also won a second prize in the ensemble ranking. Paul Rungger took second place on trumpet.

LMS Gunskirchen: The state winner on the Horn is Andreas Falzberger from the LMS Gunskirchen with 95.5 points. Two groups also won first prizes: the piano duo “Lole” by Loreley Hartl and Leonie Huber and the guitar trio “Thirty Fingers” by Viktoria Wadauer together with Maximilian Brunnhofer (LMS Wels) and Emanuel Pilz (MS Linz).

LMS Catfish: With 96.5 points, Viktor Schwarzenlander from the music school in Wels was the state winner in the percussion category. A total of 22 Wels music students took part in “Prima la Musica” and received several awards. In addition to Schwarzenlander, eight other people from Wels are going to the national competition: Anna-Sophie Hechenbichler on the violin, Katie Wu, Viktoria Dinkhauser, Anna-Sophie Hügelsberger, Declyn Finn Lehner, Maximilian Brunnhofer on the guitar and Florian Renhardt and Lukas Winter on the drums.

LMS Stadl-Paura: The woodwind and brass section of the LMS Stadl-Paura in particular excelled in Ried last week. Tabea Spießberger achieved gold on the trumpet with 90.75 points and an excellent success. With this performance she qualified for the national competition – as did Helene Keferböck (flute) and Felix Pühringer (trumpet).

LMS Marchtrenk: Two LMS Marchtrenk students excelled in this year’s state competition “Prima la Musica”: Martin Zehetner won second prize on the trumpet. Maya Pfeiffer convinced the jury on the saxophone: For her performance she received the rating “Silver – participated with very good success”.
