During this time, the official detour for cars leads via Zirking, Ried and Lungitz to St. Georgen/Gusen and Pulgarn. Because this means that a significantly higher volume of traffic than usual is to be expected on Gusentalstraße, the priority at the junction with Pleschinger Straße will be changed for the duration of the construction site: Anyone coming from Mauthausener Straße will see a stop sign and have lower priority. This is to avoid extreme traffic jams.

At the same time, it is hoped that the new regulation will result in lower speeds at the entrance to the marketplace. “It is then no longer possible to drive from the Gusenbrücke past the Sparkasse at a higher speed. At the moment, some drivers are clearly driving too fast here,” says Mayor Andreas Derntl (VP) about the new regulation. The changed priority is also a consideration in the long-term design of the intersection and traffic calming in the center of St. Georgen.
