A few days ago, the second president of the state parliament, Gottfried Waldhäusl, announced that plans would be resumed, which state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) unperturbedly rejected in the Ö1 series “Im Journal zu Gast”: “I think he had a dream.”
In an “interview, Waldhäusl announced a comeback of the plans for a Waldviertelautobahn, which had been shelved at the end of 2020. He himself negotiated his “baby” into the black-blue working agreement, said the outgoing provincial councilor and future second president of the state parliament in Lower Austria. “We will build the Autobahn and just agree on a new name.”
In the traffic chapter, the agreement stipulates the “expansion of high-level road infrastructure, particularly in structurally weak regions such as northern Lower Austria”. At the beginning of 2019, a strategic transport review was initiated for the major project, which went by the working title Europaspange. In December 2020, Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) and Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) announced that the construction project would not be implemented.
Pub promotion only for regional cuisine?
Mikl-Leitner did not want to make a clear statement on Saturday at “Journal zu Gast” regarding the controversial passage in the government agreement with the FPÖ, according to which there should only be tavern funding for regional cuisine. It’s about having a place in the community where people come together. Therefore, there is a corresponding subsidy for both the first and the last inn. The regionality plays a role, the governor remained vague, whether there could also be subsidies for a pizzeria, for example.
“Perfect” language acquisition during the break
Mikl-Leitner defended the desire to establish German as a break language in school regulations. This suggestion came from her national group. It’s about “perfecting” language acquisition during the break. She couldn’t find anything bad about it.
