DGI collection fell 1.9% year-on-year in February

The General Tax Directorate (DGI) published its monthly collection report for the month of February, which shows an annual variation of -1.9% of gross collection, if the inflationary effect is discounted, with the Value Added Tax (VAT) the highest grossing and the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) the second.

The total of gross collection of the DGI in February 2023 was 45,345 million pesos which, according to the direction, implies a variation of the 5.5% current prices and an interannual variation of -1.9% if inflation is discounted. According to the DGI report, gross collection showed a drop in collection since August 2022, which had a positive year-on-year variation in gross collection of 8.9% compared to the same period in 2021.

Refering to net collectionfor its part, where tax refunds are discounted, was 39,562 million pesos showing an interannual variation in real terms of -0.3%.

The collection of VAT reached the 21,394 million pesos in February 2023, representing 47.2% of total gross collection, increasing its real variation by 1% compared to last year.

For its part, the collection of Internal Specific Value Tax (IMESI) it was of 4,096 million pesos in February 2023, representing 9.0% of the collection and with a drop in the annual variation in relation to the same period last year, of -23.4%.

He Personal Income Tax (IRPF)for its part, represented a collection of 8,449 million pesos18.6% of the total collected, reaching a real variation, compared to the same period last year, of -11.4%.

Lastly, the Income Tax from Economic Activities (IRAE) was from 5,728 million pesosrepresenting 12.6% of the total collected, achieving a real variation of 17.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.

How much money did he raise in 2022?

During the 2022the DGI collected 584.224 million pesos, of which 55.9% (326,518 million pesos) corresponded to consumption taxes. Its income registered a rise of 5% in real terms, that is, subtracting the inflationary effect.

The tax that entered the most money into the Uruguayan treasury was VAT, with 273,476 million pesos collected, which is equivalent to 5.4% more in real terms than in 2021. This tribute pays 46.80 pesos for every 100 pesos collected.
