The senator of National Party (PN), Gustavo Penadesrejected, in a public appearance, the accusations against him for alleged sexual abuse of minors carried out by the militant Romina Celeste and assured that she is “victim of a public ridicule”.
“You all know my sexual orientation, I have never cheated on it. I have never denied it. I am very proud of who I am. What I do not admit is that because I have my sexual orientation I can be accused of being a pedophile“, affirmed the legislator who, minutes before, had met with the Minister of the Interior and head of the bench he occupies in the Senator, Luis Alberto Heber.
Yesterday afternoon, Romina Celeste accused Penadés of having sexually abused her on at least two occasions when she was 13 years old and, through her account Twitterpublished other anonymous accusations of more alleged victims of the senator.
Penadés said he was “shocked” by the accusations against him, which he flatly denied and added that their sole purpose is to subject him to “public ridicule.” “I intend to go to the last consequences,” he said and announced his disposition to Justice for what it deems pertinent to do.
In addition, he announced that he will take legal action against “all active participants in these slander.” “We live in a world in which incendiary statements are commonplace. But it is up to each one of us, as a society, not to let them go, but to face them with conviction and strength. Believe me, strength is what I have left over,” assured.
