The initiative will go to the Plenary and would be voted after the Tourism Week. Compensation is up to US$150,000.
The Constitution, Codes, General Legislation and Administration Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved this Wednesday the project that provides for the right to reparation for victims of illegal acts committed by members of armed groups, for political or ideological reasons, between January 1, 1962 and on December 31, 1976.
The initiative will now go to the Plenary and it is estimated that it would be voted after the Tourism Week. The compensation provided is $50,000 for those people who were kidnapped; $100,000 for those who present some permanent disability; and $150,000 for the heirs of fatal victims.
The Commission was chaired by the legislator of the Colorado Party, ope pasquetand made up of its vice-president Claudia Hugo, Cecilia Bottino, and Nicolás Mesa, and Mariano Tucci of the broad front (FA); Mario Colman, Diego Echeverría, Rodrigo Goñi, and Pablo Viana del National Party; and Carlos Testa of Town meeting.
Pasquet himself assured at a press conference that the project “was approved with the vote of all the members of the partner parties of the government coalition, with the vote against the FA“. For the Colorado deputy, “the wording covers the gaps that the project that came from the Senate had, and defines the amounts of the reparations that will be paid.”
“The amounts are those proposed during the government of Tabaré Vázquez,” said Pasquet
Pasquet, affirmed that these were the amounts that “were proposed” in the bill submitted by the government of the former president tabare vazquez to the Parliament in the year 2007“That’s where we take the figure from,” he said.
Regarding the compensation for the permanently disabled, the politician gave as an example Hilaria Quirinoformer cleaner bowlingwhich “was destroyed after having suffered the impact of the bomb and what fell on it.”
