It was 2019 when the Constitutional Court overturned the ordinance that had been in force since 1983 for a general ban on posting posters in Linz. This was justified by the fact that there are only four legal options for clubs and citizens’ initiatives in the entire city area to put up posters on city-owned areas. The then politically responsible property officer Regina Fechter (SP) announced an expansion, there are now first successes under her successor Dietmar Prammer (also SP).
A total of 30 locations were selected, distributed across the city, where free and free billposting is now permitted. Every proposed location has been carefully examined by the magistrate, says Prammer. Among other things, consideration was given to traffic conditions and the greatest possible protection of urban green spaces.
