The government decided to keep the freezing in the fuel prices in April. there will only be one $0.20 adjustment in the cost structure from what was agreed with the distributors in the middle of this month, but “on this occasion” it will be absorbed by the state company Ancap.

The news was confirmed by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Omar Paganiniat a press conference this Thursday. In this way, the naphtha super 95 will continue in the 71.89 pesos per liter, while the Diesel 50S will remain in the 56.99 pesos per liter as the maximum price at the pumps.

The measure of the Executive Power was taken based on the report of the Regulatory Unit of Energy and Water Services (Ursea). “The decision was adopted after the international reference established through the Import Parity Price (PPI) will not register significant variations with respect to the previous month for the main fuels for domestic use”, explained the Executive Power.

Therefore, the retail prices of the naphtha, he gasoil and the supergas April will replicate those in force since March 1.

Meanwhile, gasoline and supergas will maintain the same values even as in the last two months, since the same determination had been made for March. In the case of diesel, in March the value fell 2 pesos per liter compared to the previous month, so it remained at 56.99 pesos –the price that will be maintained for the next 30 days–.

What is the adjustment that Ancap will absorb?

Despite keeping the values intact, there will be an adjustment on account of the agreement reached by the government with the Association of Fuel Transport Companies (ATC), after the guild announced a unemployment last Wednesday.

The agreement meant an increase of 20 cents per liter for the distributors, who claimed that the last update was in 2016. However, this will not be impacted on the retail price of the pumps. “On this occasion, it was resolved that this increase will be absorbed by Ancap”, highlighted the portfolio.
