One dead after knife attack: two suspects arrested

Victim died in hospital

The search measures are related to an incident early on Friday morning in Marchtrenk (Wels-Land district): According to information from the state police headquarters, a man was seriously injured on the street at around 7:20 a.m. by a sharp object – probably a knife.

In the end, any help came too late for the opera: the man was taken to the Wels Clinic, where he died a little later.

Two suspects arrested

According to witnesses, two men fled the scene and a large number of police officers were looking for them. In the morning, one of the suspects was placed in a car near the Bindermichl tunnel, the police confirmed.

The second suspect is now in police custody. He was arrested in a bar in Traun (Linz-Land district). Both men are to be questioned on Friday.
