Santiago – 47.9% of Chileans agreed with the announcement by the president, Gabriel Boric, to create a national lithium company, according to a Pulso Ciudadano survey.
Meanwhile, 31.3% said they neither agreed nor disagreed, while only 20.7% said they were against a national lithium company. The debate will take place in Congress, where the government does not have a majority.
The consultant told those surveyed that “on April 20, President Gabriel Boric announced the national lithium strategy on a national channel. Chile is one of the countries with the largest reserves of this mineral in the world. Among the components of the strategy is the creation of the National Lithium Company with 100% state ownership to take control of this industry that is experiencing an international price boom.
