The far-right ex-president (2019-2022), 68, denied the accusations and accused the authorities of trying to “manufacture a case” against him.
“There is no adulteration on my part. I did not get vaccinated, period, I never denied that, ”he told reporters in front of his house. “I am really surprised by the search and seizures,” he added.
Bolsonaro, highly questioned about his handling of the pandemic, which left more than 700,000 dead in Brazil, assured that the Police also seized his cell phone and inspected his family’s vaccination records.
The raid was ordered by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who believes there is a “plausible, logical and solid” line of inquiry that suggests the former president may be personally implicated in the alleged irregularities.
The case concerns an alleged “criminal association” suspected of inserting “false vaccination data against covid-19 into public health systems,” the Federal Police (PF) reported in a statement.
In this way, they sought to “evade” the sanitary restrictions imposed by the Brazilian and US authorities to prevent the spread of the virus.
