The National Institute of Statistics registered growth at a general level in Montevideo and the interior of the country.
He Statistics National Institute (INE) reported in a technical bulletin that the average household income increased by 1.53% year-on-year at the country levelin the comparison between the first quarter of 2023 and the same period of 2022. In turn, there was growth at the individual level in Montevideo and inside from the country.

This left the median household income at 85,990 pesos. from the 84,698 pesos of the previous quarter. In Montevideo the increase was 3% from 100,135 pesos to 103,126 pesos, and in the interior of the country the variation was of a 0.26% from 74,130 pesos to 74,325 pesos.


The rise at the general level was also replicated at the per capitawhere median income grew by 1.6% going from 30,021 pesos to 30,512 pesos. All these revenues are estimated at current valueswithout Christmas bonus and without rental value.

In the breakdown of average per capita income, in Montevideo an interannual variation of 3.11%going from 37,036 pesos to 38,191 pesosand inside one of 0.37% after going from 25,547 pesos to 25,642 pesos.
The point estimate of the median income of households at constant values (based on January 2005) for the whole country was estimated at 21,901 pesoswhich represents 208 pesos more than the same period in 2022 (21,693 pesos), and is 65 pesos higher than the estimate for the previous quarter, where it was 21,836 pesos.

The median household income for the country as a whole in the first quarter of 2023 stood at 66,929 pesos, which implies that 50% of households receive an income less than or equal to that figure. This implies a drop of 578 pesos from the 67,507 pesos in the fourth quarter of 2022.
In the breakdown, in Montevideo it also fell in that period of time from 80,039 pesos to 77,500 pesos, however, in the interior it increased from 60,194 pesos to 60,929 pesos. The median per capita household income was 26,520 pesos at the country levelof 32,228 pesos in Montevideo, and 23,239 pesos in the interior.
