A few days ago, Lindner underwent an operation that went “very well”. However, the season in Sion and in the national team is over for Lindner.
“Thank God the malignant tumor was recognized in time and had not yet spread,” wrote Lindner.
Lindner is currently number one under team boss Ralf Rangnick and was twice in the ÖFB goal in March in the European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan (4:1) and Estonia (2:1).
The former professional from Wiener Austria, Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Basel has played a total of 36 international matches so far. In his first season in Sion, Lindner made 28 league appearances in the current season at the bottom of the table, but he recently had to take a break due to a broken metacarpal.
