The Broad Front called for the removal of the OSE authorities

The senators of the broad front resolved yesterday the request for the removal of the directors of the National Administration of State Sanitary Works (OSE), President, Raul Montero, and the vice president Susanna Montaner.

During the fourth interval of the interpellation, the Broad Front gave a press conference, led by Senator Enrique Rubio, where he expressed his position after the discharge of the ministers and directors of OSE. There, they established that they did not find clear explanations nor “a development of the possible scenarios, and an explanation of what the contingency plan consists of”, for which they qualified the explanations and arguments “totally insufficient”.

According to Rubio, citizen participation was ignored reaching a limit situation. “No real action was taken in the face of the crisis and there were many weeks without communication for the population to control spending on water,” said the senator, who added that the opposition presented measures and hopes that the Executive Power will take them.

Among the three conclusions determined by the Broad Front are, in the first place, the exhortation to the president Luis Lacalle Pou to remove from office the directors of OSE, the president, Raúl Montero, and the vice president, Susana Montaner.

Second, they proposed the creation of a crisis committee where political parties are integrated, as well as social and academic actors to be able to provide solutions to possible scenarios. And finally, they demanded the start of a process of dialogue and national agreement for the carrying out works with perspective to the year 2045.

The metropolitan area, compromised

This week, the president of SBI, Raul Monteroassured in a press conference that the metropolitan area of cannelloni and Montevideo would remain, to continue the current water landscapeabout 18 daysdrinking water supply. “We are entering a somewhat complicated stage of ending this month of May and getting into June in a certain way,” lamented Montero, and remarked that, from OSE, they feel a “major concern” because, as the water level drops, certain problems could appear in relation to “to be able to manage well the water that comes out of the valves“.
