The accident happened around 10.30 a.m. in the direction of Sattledt in the municipality of Molln: After a tire burst in the Spering tunnel, a semitrailer could no longer continue. A following truck driver was unable to stop his heavy vehicle in time, and a rear-end collision occurred.
The salvage of the semi-trailers was still in progress on Friday afternoon. “The A9 is still blocked,” said the state police headquarters at 2:44 p.m. via broadcast. A truck driver, a 27-year-old Slovenian, was taken to the Pyhrn Eisenwurzen Clinic with injuries. A 61-year-old Hungarian was behind the wheel of the semi-trailer truck that came to a standstill due to a burst tire. According to the police, he had tried to drive the truck to the nearest breakdown lane. However, when he noticed that the tire was already coming off the rim, the 61-year-old stopped. He is believed to have been uninjured in the subsequent rear-end collision.
