The Colombian professional cyclist Einem Rubio won the greatly shortened 13th stage of the Giro d’Italia. The climbing specialist prevailed over 74.6 kilometers on the Swiss detour to Crans-Montana ahead of Frenchman Thibaut Pinot and Ecuadorian Jefferson Cepeda. The Brit Geraint Thomas remained the undisputed leader, the Austrian Patrick Konrad lost three places in the overall standings and is now in 16th place.

The route was shortened by more than 120 kilometers due to bad weather, with the 2469 meter high Grosser Sankt Bernhard pass, this year’s “roof” of the Giro was also forced to be skipped.
